PLay, Play, Play...What A Busy Day

Ms. Beth wrote...
Today Kaylie went to playgroup as usual. We worked on being gentle while greeting other children. Kaylie is so friendly and enthusiastic, yet this can be overwhelming to the 6 month old crowd for example. She also found a "monster" doll with a friendly face and a large nose. She spent a good long time pointing first to her nose, than his, then back to her's again.

Auntie Kim

Today Auntie Kim came over to play with me while Mommy attended the St. Francis Parish Conference and Daddy taught his weapons class at Keith Haftner's karate. We had loads of fun, especially "getting into" all kinds of trouble playing in boxes and ottomans! I love the adventures that arise when Auntie Kim comes over :-)

Cabin Fever

Ms. Beth wrote...
Fussy today. Chewing on toys like mad. Teeth coming in plus diaper rash. We played inside because it's still so cold (15 degrees). We are both getting cabin fever.

Presidential Inauguration 2009

Today I "watched" the Presidential Inauguration of President-Elect Barack Obama and Vice President-Elect Joe Biden and played at the same time. I did not see the swearing-in of the Vice President because Ms. Beth had to change my diaper. I played with my noise-making toys during the Inauguration speech and clapped when Yo-Yo Ma and Itzhak Perlman played their parts in the quartet. Daddy knows the composer, John Williams, since he is known for his music from "Star Wars". They say that this is a special day in history. All I know is that it is and will be part of my story.

Cold, Cold Snowy Day

Ms. Beth wrote...
Such a cold, cold snowy day. We looked out of the window at the snow and Kaylie played happily indoors. No walk today. Kaylie wanted to "play" the piano more than ever today. In fact, she signed "please" twice for it, and the second time unprompted!! Later Kaylie saw my cell phone and signed "please". I never let her touch it but that moment I made an exception. After a moment I signed "please" and she gave it back immediately with no complaints. Amazing!

Sprouts

This morning Mommy put a clip in my hair. My hair was out of control, but I liked it that way. All I wanted to do was play with my soft, stuffed kitten, the one that Grandma and Grandpa Peters gave me. The clip was out as soon as I could get my hands on it.
Ms. Beth wrote...
Kaylie will play so well independently now. She is much less prone to falling and she is so much more careful with objects than she used to be! Today she cleaned out almost the entire spice cabinet. She continues to say "Yay", "hot", "hat" and "cat". No new words yet, but how quickly she is changing!

In the Fort

Today is a snowy winter day. Daddy's LAN party has been canceled and the roads are too hazardous for Mommy and I to visit Grandma Debby in Ohio, so instead I played in my high chair fort. The vinyl table cloth underneath the high chair marks the "blast zone". I believe that I am a very neat eater. Mommy begs to differ.

House Closing

Ms. Beth wrote...
Kaylie attended her first house closing today with Colin and I. She was a "perfect" child and charmed everyone. Later we read Brown Bear, Brown Bear,What do you See? and when we got to the purple cat page I said cat a number of times and she repeated "Cat", "Ga", "Cat", "Ca", "Cat" "Cat". Wow! With a perfect little "t" at the end too! Kaylie said "Cat". I can't believe it! Kaylie also said "Hat" but almost half the time she drops the "t". When I tried to get her to repeat the words she said, "Ga".

Congratulations to Ms. Beth and Mr. Colin on the closing of their new home!

"Hot" vs "Ha"

Ms. Beth wrote...
Kaylie said "hot" at least three times because I told her the bottle was warm. The third time I let her take a taste because it as quite warm but not dangerously so. She pulled it out of her mouth, looked at me and said "Ha!" Then politely played until it was lukewarm. Could this be her second spoken word? Or maybe we need the "t" to make it official? Also, she didn't want to go outside today :-( She did though love the first taste of grapefruit:-)

Walk Down Ticknor Court

Ms. Beth wrote...
Today Kaylie preferred walking to riding in her stroller. We explored the front yard together and then walked down the sidewalk of Ticknor Court following the recyclables truck. Kaylie very much wanted to see what they were doing.

Happy New Year 2009

I blow lots of kisses to all my family and friends to wish them a very Happy New Year! Last night, I stayed up late watching the ball drop in NYC, fascinated by all the people on the TV. At the final drop, I clapped and shouted "Yay!". I finally went to sleep at 4:20 am.
