Pinecones and Purple Violets

Ms. Beth wrote...
Kaylie slept until 10:50 am today! She had a very eventful weekend. She ate homemade applesause, saurkraut, macaroni and cheese, banana, cottage cheese and apple. She ate it all--the best she's done for me in at least a week! Kaylie loves spending time in the backyard...picking up sticks and pinecones, and pointing at all the new things there are to see in the springtime. On our walk today we even saw purple violets in someone's yard.

Coral and Crayons

Coral and I got to play together while our parents visited. Today she showed me how to color with Crayons, not eat them. I preferred taking each one out of the box, carefully examining it, and then throwing the Crayon on the floor.

Lauren's 5th Birthday Party

My cousin, Lauren, is celebrating her 5th Birthday today. Tinkerbell was everywhere... on the cake, plates and napkins. The best part was playing with all the cousins, especially when we played the games involving the balloons and bubble-maker.

Exploring the Outside World

Ms. Beth wrote...
What a deeply satisfying day we had! After a long walk through pretty neighborhoods we stopped at Buhr park. First Kaylie played in the tall grasses with a spirit of peaceful concentration. Next, we played at the playground. Kaylie and I went down the slide together for the first time! She squealed with delight in the baby swing, climbed like a monkey, and played a clever little game with black walnut shells. Finally we visited the animals briefly at Cobblestone farm. Kaylie petted a goat (but she was a little afraid). Soon she warmed up to the experience and when it came time to go she cried because she could not go in with the animals.

Hat!

Ms. Beth wrote...
Kaylie's hair is getting so thick! She still pulls out any hair accessories I put on her, but she does love her hats! Today she wore her Elmo hat indoors for almost an hour!

Palmer House Hilton

Today ends our stay in Chicago. We catch the train back home at 12 noon. I will miss running around in our hotel suite. Mommy placed my crib in the conference room that seats 8 people and has the wet bar. I will miss chasing Daddy from the hallway to the great room. It was more fun than a barrel of monkeys!

Shedd Aquarium

Chicago is huge! While walking to the Shedd Aquarium from our hotel, I kept pointing to the tops of the skyscrapers. And talk about huge, I had no idea that fish could be so big! I explored the Shedd Aquarium this afternoon and especially like the rainforest; Daddy was extremely warm chasing after me in this section. I met this cute boy who paddle the row boat for me. The dolphins, seals and whales were on vacation since the oceanarium was closed for remodeling. Perhaps I will see them next time.

Wolverine AMTRAK train

This morning, Mommy and Daddy got my up early so that we could take the train into Chicago. I loved walking up and down the aisles and greeting all those passengers with technology toys like notebook computers and cell phones. My parents needed a mini getaway because with everyday work schedules they've almost forgotten how to play and have fun.

Little Surprises

Ms. Beth wrote...
The other day after her pre-nap bottle Kaylie surprised me by wiping her own mouth with a corner of her blanket :-) before I got a chance to wipe it for her! Just another tiny example I suppose, but she grows and changes and becomes more competent every day. Also today I said, "What do Doggies say?" and she went ahead and barked without waiting for me to bark first. I know, I know...the nanny is easily amused.

My friend Coral

What a fantastic day! I played with my friend Coral who tried to teach me my ABC's. I was more interested in the princess wands and building blocks, though. When our parents were talking too seriously, Coral and I decided it was time to approach the daddies for tickle torture and "hop on Pop" games.

At the Park with Grandma Debby

Today Mommy and I drove to Ohio so that we could see Grandma Debby and Grandpa Steve. Here are our adventures in the park!
