Decisions, decisions

Ms. Beth wrote...
Today was a quiet day. Since I have a cold and was feeling rather run-down, we watched Sesame Street together. Then Kaylie played quietly until her nap. While she was sleeping it rained and rained. At lunchtime Kaylie pointed towards the fruit and I said, "Kaylie, can you tell me what you want? Can you say the word?" She only pointed again so I asked and suggested "banana?". Kaylie thought for a moment and said, "a-pple!". So smart. (avacado update: like it but didn't love it.)

Spoon

Ms. Beth wrote...
Kaylie chose to eat her cottage cheese using a spoon today (well some of it...). I clapped for her and later she clapped for herself. She's getting there :-)

Par-ty!

Let us raise our glasses in celebration of Tim's birthday! What a crowd...Brian and Casey, Dan and Cecilia, Kim and JoAnn, Kim's Dad and Elaine, Mommy, Daddy and Tim. Really, we did not have too much to drink...

Cool Cat!

Today Auntie JoAnn arrived from Austin. In celebration, Mommy dressed me in my UT LongHorn's outfit. She has been here only three hours and have already shown me the coolest and latest in eyewear!

Cold April Day

Ms. Beth wrote...
We took a walk today but it was so cold that we didn't stay out long. Later we read for a long time. I think we get through every board book at least once!

No Sippy Cup

Ms. Beth wrote...
She didn't want her sippy cup but asked for a bottle instead. Kaylie played so beautifully outside. She loved to pick up the pinecones, stones, and sticks from the yard. A neighbor (Jean) came over to the fence and commented on how pretty Kaylie was and how intelligent she looked.

In Memory of Great Grandma Bayer

Today is the funeral mass and burial. For all of us little ones - Kayla, Emily, Jacob, Alaina, Ethan, Alexie and the little baby to come-we are Great Grandma Bayer's legacy. May we continue to bring honor to the family.

Family Ties - The Viewing

Quiet and loud, small and tall, sadness and happiness, comfort and tension, and above all there is love. That's my family.

Easter Morning for Great Grandma

This morning, Great Grandma left us to meet with her own Mommy, Daddy, husband and many other loved ones that have gone before her. Mommy and Daddy are very sad that she passed away. Today I practiced more of my twirls... round and round, laughing all around...I see Great Grandma Bayer doing the same-twirling away.

Great Grandma Lela Bayer

Daddy received word today that Great Grandma was not doing well so that evening we all went to Botsford Hospital. There we saw Grandma and Grandpa Peters, Aunt Karen, Aunt Anne, and Uncle Rod and Aunt Suzie. While the family talked, Daddy and I ran up and down the halls, where we met a staff member that gave me the cutest red Botsford teddy bear. When it was my turn to see Great Grandma, I whispered to her many secrets that only she and I understood. I kept on signing "sleep" to comfort Mommy and let her know that she was asleep and sleeping peacefully.

Ball!

Ms. Beth wrote...
Today we tossed Kaylie's new ball around. She did a good job throwing it in my direction, and whenever I caught it she laughed!

Kaylie's Second Easter

Ms. Kaitlyn wrote...
It's almost Easter! Kaylie is so happy. She's enjoying the bunny ears we got her. She also puts the cellophane over her head! I bought her, her first ball, with my own money! She loves it!!!!!!!!!!!!! She also knows how to say it.Her first word in the morning is ball, ball, ball. It's always ball!!

JellyBeans

Ms. Beth wrote...
We went to Children's Orchard to get a few outfits for Kaylie because she is growing so fast. There was an Easter egg hunt in the store and the Easter bunny was there! Kaylie was a little scared of the Easter bunny but she enjoyed the hunt. Appearently it is easiest to take eggs out of other kid's baskets. Too bad I hadn't let her keep those ones. She did get some herself, though, and best of all she ate her first jellybeans! One red and one orange. Yum! Kaylie was very ready for a nap. She was crying as I prepared the bottle and screamed during her diaper change. She didn't want anything but to be held and have her bottle! I hope she is OK on the drive to Ohio.

Remembering

Ms. Beth wrote...
This morning Kaylie was sitting on the kitchen floor in her pajamas and using her feet to spin herself in a circle. Watching her, I remembered doing that myself when I was a child. I also remembered how ridiculously fun it was to just use my body all the time. Kids just need to keep moving. As a caretaker of children I know that- but in watching Kaylie that knowledge moved suddenly and impulsively from my head to my heart- and my body remembered! So I sat on the floor with Kaylie an we made circles together- laughing all the time! Thank-you Kaylie, for reminding me how to play!

One Cold to Rule Them All

Ms. Beth wrote...
Kaylie's still recovering She played quietly, watched a little Sesame Street and took a warm bath. It's quite cold outside so we didn't go out. Because of her congestion, whenever she squeals the noise that comes out makes me think of a (baby) Ring-Wraith! It's horrific and sort of funny at the same time.

Palm Sunday

Well, I almost stayed awake; I fell asleep during the last five minutes of the Palm Sunday Mass. Mommy had to carry me to the Parish Center where Grandpa Peters and his friends from the Men's Club were working hard hosting a Pancake All-You-Can-Eat Breakfast. They had over 400 people show up and taste the plain scrambled eggs. western-style scrambled eggs, ham, sausage, pancakes, french toast, bread pudding, hashbrowns and coffee and OJ. I woke up after everyone had eaten and just in time to watch two young boys rough-housing. Good times.

Grandma and Grandpa's House

Yesterday we drove to Manistee so that we could play at Grandma and Grandpa's house over the weekend. This afternoon when the sun was shining high, I explored the vast yard (front and back) and even went over to play on the neighbor's swing set. I pointed to the many birds that would fly above the trees, studied the texture of several dry leaves and twigs, and used a pussy-willow branch as a wand waving it up-and-down and all-a-round. I can't wait until the weather gets even warmer, so that I can explore the lake below! No matter, because until then, inside the house, I had lots of fun with the duplo blocks, "TumbleBus" balloon from Lauren's birthday party, and Dixie's sqeekly soccer ball.
